Love Letter To Myself

IMG_4601

On Valentine’s Day I wrote myself a love letter.

And nearly 6 months on, I’m ready to publicly declare my love for me all over again.

I recommend you do the same!

Beautiful little Meggy,

My love for you is unconditional.

Yes. I said unconditional.

I know that word gets thrown around a lot. So I understand if you’re a little hesitant to believe me. But I promise you, when I say unconditional, I mean UNCONDITIONAL.

There are no requirements, prerequisites, conditions for my love.

I will love you no matter what.

Yep. No. Matter. What.

If your blog falls to bits. I’ll still love you.

If you lose that fire in your eyes. I’ll still love you.

If everyone else stops believing in you. I’ll still love you.

If you don’t reach that goal or that dream.  I’ll still love you.

If you gain 50 kg, shave you head and insist on wearing only harem pants and dirty singlets. I’ll still love you.

If you put all your eggs in one basket, and that baskets gets stolen. I’ll still love you.

If you choose to run away instead of fight. I’ll still love you.

If you choose to fight instead of let go. I’ll still love you.

If you go days without getting out of bed. I’ll still love you.

If you keep your heart barricaded and close yourself off from the world. I’ll still love you.

If you declare your committment to someone or something then change your mind. I’ll still love you.

If you declare your committment to someone or something and get rejected. I’ll still love you.

If it all gets too much and you’re tired of showing up and grabbing life by the balls. I’ll still love you.

If you give up. I’ll still love you.

If you push too hard. I’ll still love you.

If you’re 40, single and “unsuccessful”. I’ll still love you.

If you never get around to standing on your head. I’ll still love you.

If you never step foot on your yoga mat again. I’ll still love you.

If you pull a funny face and the wind changes. I’ll still love you.

If you get angry and go a lil’ cray-cray. I’ll still love you.

If you show up and put it all on the line, only to be knocked back, spat on and kicked while you’re down. I’ll still love you.

If you think “Fuck it” this optimism thing is damn fucking hard and choose instead to hang out in the world of woe for a little while. I’ll still love you.

If you choose to risk it all and lose. I’ll still love you.

If you get big-headed and let you ego take the reins. I’ll still love you.

If you abandon me, abuse me, forget about my entire existence. I’ll still love you.

Cause Honey, whatever the fuck you do,  I’ll always Love you!

Big Love Meg x

P.S. It’s your turn! Go ahead and get out the journal, light a candle and declare your undying love for YOU!

If you’re brave enough, why not share it in the comments below.

Cause a world soaked in self-love is a better world for all, I say!

What a beautiful idea Meg, I always love looking back on little things like this to reflect on how we felt at the time. You’ve inspired some journalling in me tonight! x

Oooh, this looks like a wonderful activity to do with clients – a self-love letter. Mine would be, “If your business fails & you never work with anyone else, I’ll still love you… If you gain weight & binge, I’ll still love you.” So powerful!

This is amazing! Totally need to read this today. And will be giving it a go for myself soon! :)

This reminds me of one of my fav talks from Maya Angelou (totally worth youtubing as it’s only a few minutes long, search “Love liberates”); “I am grateful to have been loved and to be loved now and to be able to love, because that liberates. Love liberates. It doesn’t just hold—that’s ego. Love liberates. It doesn’t bind. Love says, ‘I love you. I love you if you’re in China. I love you if you’re across town. I love you if you’re in Harlem. I love you. I would like to be near you. I’d like to have your arms around me. I’d like to hear your voice in my ear. But that’s not possible now, so I love you. Go.’” — Dr. Maya Angelou

    Great post Meg!

  7. Gorgeous post Meg.

“If you put all your eggs in one basket, and that baskets gets stolen. I’ll still love you.”
